I have a consulting business and I used BYS for two years to provide remote support for any clients/users who were not attached to one of the networks I support (remote workers, small clients etc...). Software worked well enough with a few compromises. I liked that it was quick to install for a client joining a session for the first time and there were minimal key clicks to get the process started. Once connected, as soon as the host allows access to the keyboard and mouse, you can completely remote control the host PC. Run programs, diagnostics installations, troubleshoot etc.. as if you were there... almost. Once connected, performance can be very spotty. Very often I would have to ask the person in front of the machine what was on the screen because it was updating so slow. I also tended to lose control of the keyboard and mouse very often forcing me to then have to ask the person on the other end to go through the process of allowing me access again. If you get disconnected from the session entirely, both you and the host have to close IE and start the process all over to create a new session. In the latest version there is supposed to be the ability to reconnect a disconnected session, but it never works. You have to start over from the top.

For the most part I was able to work around the software's limitations, but in the last year I discovered I could do a lot better for a lot less money. These days there are a lot more options for this sort of thing and they are much more competitively priced, more feature-rich and much more stable. BYS was very avante-garde when I started using it, but the software didn't change much in the 2 years I used it and the pricing stayed exactly the same (while everyone else is dropping their prices and adding features)... BYS is still cheaper than gotomeeting or logmeinrescue, but having used and tried many different remote support products, I can tell you BYS is not nearly as polished as those programs. It is actually much more closely related to Zoho Assist, Skyfex, and Crossloop, all of which provide web based remote support tools for quite a bit less $$.

BYS customer support is horrendous. I had to contact them a few times and each time I got a cut and paste response to uninstall the program and re-install the latest version. When I already had the latest version I would simply not get any more responses from them. I assumed then that there weren't any human beings monitoring email at BYS at all but when I tried to cancel, suddenly they appeared. I had plenty of back-and-forth and got a tremendous run-around trying to get them to stop billing me and close my account. You can do a lot better than this product for a lot less $$ and hassle.

In summary, I would not recommend Beam Your Screen to a friend.
