LiveLook ShowMyScreen is a basic and simple screen sharing service which can be used with an added co-browsing tool. The screen sharing service is aimed at anyone, from home users to business users, to quickly and easily share their screen. The extra co-browsing tool is aimed at customer service situations where a representative can help guide a customer through a web site to help them pick a product or provide support.
The first thing we noticed about LiveLook ShowMyScreen is that its website is very minimalist. This is good because you can go straight into sharing a screen, but there is not much information about what the service actually does. Why anyone would sign up to a service without being fully aware of what it offers is beyond us. However, we can report that, although the service works, it is very basic and doesn't offer much in the way of functionality. You can share your screen with up to 15 participants and that's about it. There are none of the added extra features that many other similar services include.
The co-browsing facility is fairly similar. It allows you to see what your customer is looking at on their screen and use a pointer to guide them to different products or show them how to do something. The one useful feature of this is that you can add a button to your website that allows a customer to instantly begin sharing their screen with you.
Neither of LiveLook's service support any form of communication while you are sharing your screen. They don't even include text based chat features, which we would have assumed to be the baseline for any service such as this. If you want to be able to communicate with anyone you are sharing your screen with you will have to do it over the phone or use a separate instant messaging application.
The one saving grace of LiveLook ShowMyScreen is that it is offered quite cheaply. The monthly cost for unlimited use for up to 15 participants is pretty reasonable and it is also possible to purchase one off sessions. Other than that the service runs smoothly enough, but just doesn't provide as many features as we have come to expect from this style of application.
