MegaMeeting is a provider of hosted or deployable solutions to meet all your web conferencing requirements. Most plans have integrated support for voice over IP as well as multipoint video conferencing and allow unlimited access to conferencing facilities. There are a variety of plans on offer to cater for personal users through to large enterprises hosting their own system.
MegaMeeting is a completely browser based solution so all participants in meetings can join just by visiting a web address. Once in a meeting the presenter can share a desktop with everyone in the meeting and has the ability to choose whether to share the whole desktop or just one application on it. PowerPoint presentations can also be uploaded before the meeting begins and delivered during the meeting quickly and efficiently. It is also possible to use the remote desktop control feature to take control of a participant's computer or let them control yours. The personal plans don't offer these features and only support the following communication features.
To communicate participants can use the integrated VOIP system which allows them to use a microphone attached to their computer to talk during the meeting. Webcam support from up to 16 different sources is also included and up to 2,000 participants can view the streams. As well as this participants can always use the text chat features to communicate. For guests without access to a computer a free, but toll based, audio conferencing service is provided and integrates with the web conferencing service.
The reliability of the hosted version of MegaMeeting seemed very good and gave us no problems. Security isn't directly provided by the application, but the technology it is based on allows businesses to use their own security procedures and there is information provided about this. The quality of service of the deployed solution will depend on the quality of your infrastructure, but there are options to reduce video quality if you have problems.
MegaMeeting provides a flexible service that can be used by anyone from individuals through to large enterprises. The hosted service prices are fairly average and quite reasonable for this quality of application and the deployed solutions could be very cost effective in the long run.
